The IRFZ44NPBF is an N-Channel power MOSFET from Infineon's HEXFET family in a TO-220AB package. 55V drain-source, 49A continuous drain current, 17.5mΩ max RDS(on) at 10V gate drive. Standard threshold (2V–4V) - needs 10V gate drive.
There is a near-identical part with a one-letter difference: the IRLZ44NPBF. The "L" stands for Logic-Level. If you are driving this from an Arduino or microcontroller pin, you want the IRLZ44NPBF instead. This is the most common MOSFET selection mistake on forums.
It is a standard N-Channel enhancement-mode MOSFET. Apply 10V between gate and source, and the channel conducts between drain and source. The "N" indicates the newer HEXFET generation. The "PBF" suffix means lead-free (RoHS).
Critical: The gate threshold is 2V–4V, but RDS(on) is only guaranteed at VGS=10V. The threshold is where it starts conducting, not where it is fully on. This is extensively documented on Arduino Forum and StackExchange.
